Business Management Committee

Purpose

To discuss and share information common to managing a structural engineering business. To facilitate the distribution of information contributing to strengthening the business practices of the structural engineering firms in Colorado.

Objectives

  • Conduct meetings 5 times a year.
  • Conduct an annual Business Practice Survey the first quarter of the year with results distributed in the second quarter of the year to responding participants.
  • Obtain outside speakers who are experts in various fields of business management.
  • Facilitate roundtable discussions amongst committee members and/or general members on the challenges of managing a structural engineering firm.
  • Share information on business topics such as insurance, human resources, legal issues, project management, accounting etc.

Specific Objectives for 2010

  • Survey the general membership to verify the purpose and direction of the committee.
  • Increase the membership of the committee and integrate its activities more with the general membership.
